Summer intern - Mechanical Engineer

June 2019 - September 2019

Kenworth Renton Plant, WA

I interned at the Kenworth Truck plant in Renton, Washington during my summer term in graduate school. I had the opportunity to work at a world class production facility with experienced engineers to mentor me. My work involved providing engineering assistance down the line to help prevent breakdowns and bottle necks. I was also involved in maintaining daily time and production charts. I was also responsible for mainting quality of the products and solutions we applied.

Kenworth organized several intern meet up events in various PACCAR facilities around Washington State. We were invited to the PACCAR technical centre up at Mt. Vernon where we witnessed the engine and drivetrain testing systems along with the various research and development labs. The technical centre also had a 5 mile long testing track where we test the vehicles from Peterbilt, Kenworth and DAF for acceleration and on road handling.

I took up the project to design and deploy a truss system to add additional support to the overhead hoist. The rails looked worn out and had shown signs of deformation. We could see a rails under constant load, beginning to sag.
